This is the clip from London Public Library's announcement of their new website. TPL can do something similar on YouTube when the new website launches to announce new features like RSS feeds and podcasts.

23Things Assignment #7

I signed up for the New York Times Book Review podcasts and the Word Nerd podcasts but really don't have time to hear either. I think it's good to have podcasts of interviews of authors, etc. but there's really not much point in listening to a review when you can skim it in a few minutes instead of having to wait for it to play through. The library can use podcasts if they have a special program like an author visit that they want to share with people who can't make it to the program. It would be great to have this ability on the site.

23 Things Assignment #6

Google docs is amazing! Really easy to use. I can see we can use it at work, for example, I could do the Readers' Services Committee annual achievements on it and ask committee members to add anything I've missed. We could edit the document together remotely instead of having to meet. I look forward to using it.

del.icio.us is great, except I wish it's easier to spell! I've now got it set up at work and at home. It's great for bookmarking articles and I've started using it several times this week already.

The generator thing is quite fun, but I find that it is quite limited in its creativity. Here's what I came up with when I tossed my name in to get a Blues name. If I put in my married name as a female, I got the name 'Gloomy' Eva Bell. When I put in my maiden name, I got the same image but a different name. This time it's 'Fat' Flora Bell!

When I change the gender to male, using the same names, I became a black man!

And guess what the names are: 'Gloomy' Jonny Bell and 'Fat' Abraham Nicholas. LOL

I am hoping to start a blog or wiki so that the Readers' Services Committee and TPL staff can share readers' advisory experiences, questions (and answers) and work on cooperative projects, e.g., booklists.
